The Strategic HR Unit co-ordinates the administration of OH&S matters at UTAS, particularly in relation to workers compensation and rehabilitation, radiation safety and hazardous materials management. Staff within the Unit provide advice to Budget Centres in regard to legislative and statutory requirements, standards and guidelines.

Staff within the Unit also oversee the University's compliance with the Workplace Health and Safety Act 1995, the Workplace Health and Safety Regulations 1998, and the Workers Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988.
